Devices documented to run on this
The figures below line up. Neither manufacturer states that this pack runs this device — that is our reading of what each of them published separately, not a claim by either of them or a test by us. Even where every stated figure agrees, these can still decide it:
- A motor’s published draw is usually a peak, not the load it holds — the two numbers are not the same kind of quantity
- A maker’s amp-hour minimum and their reserve-capacity minimum can give different answers about the same battery
- Conditions attached to the chemistry, such as a speed limit for running on lithium
- Whether the pack may be wired in series at all, where the device needs 24 or 36 volts
- The charger, which both makers put conditions on and neither supplies
- Case size, hold-down and terminal type — fitting the space is not being secured in it
Worth confirming with the manufacturer or a dealer before buying.
- Minn Kota Terrova 55 lb (54" shaft, wireless remote)Figures compared
One of these.
Only on a comparison of two published figures — Trojan's 115 amp-hours at the 20-hour rate against the 105 that Minn Kota's manual asks for — check yours before buying.
Minn Kota's manual for this motor asks for at least a 105 amp-hour rating and says the motor will run on any lead-acid, deep-cycle marine 12-volt battery. Trojan rate the 27TMH at 115 amp-hours at the 20-hour rate, 10 amp-hours above it. Minn Kota do not say which discharge rate their figure applies to, and Trojan publish four figures for this battery: 95 at the 5-hour rate, 106 at 10, 115 at 20 and 128 at 100. The 20-hour rate is the conventional marine rating and the one compared. Minn Kota's website battery guide asks for 110 amp-hours rather than the manual's 105, and they have not reconciled the two; at 115 this battery clears both. Trojan give reserve minutes at two currents for this battery — 200 minutes at 25 amps and 51 at 75 — and the 50 amps Minn Kota state as this motor's maximum draw falls between them. Trojan publish no figure at that current, so how long it would last there is not something either company states. Minn Kota's battery-guidance table recommends AGM or lithium at 100 amp-hours for a 55 lb motor, alongside the manual sentence quoted above. Neither company has named the other and nobody has tested the pairing.
- Minn Kota Terrova 80 lb (60" shaft, wireless remote)Figures compared
Two of these, Two 12-volt batteries wired in series.
Only on a comparison of two published figures — Trojan's 115 amp-hours at the 20-hour rate against the 105 that Minn Kota's manual asks for, and with two of these wired in series as their manual requires — check yours before buying.
Minn Kota's manual for this motor asks for at least a 105 amp-hour rating and says the motor will run on any lead-acid, deep-cycle marine 12-volt battery. Trojan rate the 27TMH at 115 amp-hours at the 20-hour rate each, 10 amp-hours above it. Trojan give reserve minutes at two currents for this battery — 200 minutes at 25 amps and 51 at 75 — and the 56 amps Minn Kota state as this motor's maximum draw falls between them. Trojan publish no figure at that current, so how long it would last there is not something either company states. Minn Kota's manual for this motor is explicit that two 12-volt batteries wired in series are required. Their amp-hour figure is asked of the battery rather than of the string, so it is compared against a single one. Their battery-guidance table recommends lithium at 100 to 125 amp-hours for an 80 lb motor, which is a different chemistry from this one — the manual and the table are both Minn Kota's and they do not agree. Neither company has named the other and nobody has tested the pairing.
Three of these, Three 12-volt batteries wired in series.
Only on a comparison of two published figures — Trojan's 115 amp-hours at the 20-hour rate against the 105 that Minn Kota's manual asks for, and with three of these wired in series as their manual requires — check yours before buying.

Compatible platforms
The motors this pack is documented to run are listed above. No boat, rig or other platform in this catalogue is listed as carrying it — that is a separate question from what it will power, and nothing is listed until a source answers it.
