Devices documented to run on this
The figures below line up. Neither manufacturer states that this pack runs this device — that is our reading of what each of them published separately, not a claim by either of them or a test by us. Even where every stated figure agrees, these can still decide it:
- A motor’s published draw is usually a peak, not the load it holds — the two numbers are not the same kind of quantity
- A maker’s amp-hour minimum and their reserve-capacity minimum can give different answers about the same battery
- Conditions attached to the chemistry, such as a speed limit for running on lithium
- Whether the pack may be wired in series at all, where the device needs 24 or 36 volts
- The charger, which both makers put conditions on and neither supplies
- Case size, hold-down and terminal type — fitting the space is not being secured in it
Worth confirming with the manufacturer or a dealer before buying.
- Minn Kota Terrova 55 lb (54" shaft, wireless remote)Figures compared
One of these.
Only at 12 volts, where Minn Kota rate this motor at 50 A and Epoch rate this pack at 100 A continuous — check yours before buying.
Minn Kota state this 55 lb motor runs on a 12 volt system and draws up to 50 A. Epoch state this pack is 12.8 V with a maximum continuous discharge of 100 A, leaving 50 A of headroom. Neither company has named the other, and the two figures are different kinds of number: Minn Kota's is a peak draw, Epoch's is a continuous rating. The comparison therefore runs the cautious way round, since a pack that can supply its figure indefinitely covers a motor's worst moment; read the other way it would mean nothing. Epoch do publish this pack in a collection titled "Lithium Batteries for Minn Kota Trolling Motors", which names the motor brand but no model.
Compatible platforms
The motors this pack is documented to run are listed above. No boat, rig or other platform in this catalogue is listed as carrying it — that is a separate question from what it will power, and nothing is listed until a source answers it.
