Devices documented to run on this

The figures below line up. Neither manufacturer states that this pack runs this device — that is our reading of what each of them published separately, not a claim by either of them or a test by us. Even where every stated figure agrees, these can still decide it:

  • A motor’s published draw is usually a peak, not the load it holds — the two numbers are not the same kind of quantity
  • A maker’s amp-hour minimum and their reserve-capacity minimum can give different answers about the same battery
  • Conditions attached to the chemistry, such as a speed limit for running on lithium
  • Whether the pack may be wired in series at all, where the device needs 24 or 36 volts
  • The charger, which both makers put conditions on and neither supplies
  • Case size, hold-down and terminal type — fitting the space is not being secured in it

Worth confirming with the manufacturer or a dealer before buying.

  • One of these.

Only on the 48 volt model, and on published figures — InSight Series 48V 30Ah Low Temperature Lithium Battery is rated 100 A continuous and Rhodan rate this motor at up to 50 A — check yours before buying.

Rhodan state this system runs on 24, 36 or 48 volts depending on the model, and that its "system current draw will vary with thrust level up to a maximum of 50 amps at 100% thrust". This pack is 51.2 V nominal — what the industry sells as 48 volts — and its maker rate it at 100 A continuous as a maximum, and 45 A as their recommendation — so the motor's 50 amps is comfortably inside what the pack can do and 5 A above what its maker suggests for continuous use. The two figures are different kinds of number: Rhodan's is a peak draw and the pack's is a continuous rating, so the comparison runs the cautious way round. Rhodan also ask for a 60 amp breaker. What separates this pack from the GC2 is temperature and nothing else: it takes charge down to -20°C and heats itself below freezing, where the GC2 refuses charge at 0°C. On a boat left on the water through a northern winter that is the whole difference. Rhodan's display shows the live current draw, so RELiON's 45 A recommendation is something an owner can watch themselves against. Neither company has named the other and nobody has tested the pairing.

Compatible platforms

The motors this pack is documented to run are listed above. No boat, rig or other platform in this catalogue is listed as carrying it — that is a separate question from what it will power, and nothing is listed until a source answers it.
