Compatible chargers

These chargers are here because the published figures line up, not because anyone has said they go together — that is our reading of two documents that never mention each other, not a claim by either maker and not a test by us. Even where every figure agrees, these are not established:

  • Which charge profile the charger is actually set to — several publish four or more, and only one of them is this pack’s chemistry
  • What it holds the pack at once bulk charging ends, which is a different figure from the one it boosts to, and which some profiles do not apply at all
  • The charge current the pack will accept, against what the charger delivers into it
  • Whether the charger can restart a pack its own BMS has already disconnected
  • The wiring in between — where a converter feeds a distribution panel, the pack is one load on a circuit rather than a device on the end of a lead

Worth confirming with the charger's manufacturer or a dealer before buying.

Redodo state this pack's charge voltage as 14.4 ± 0.2 V — their datasheet reads "Charge Voltage: 14.4V±0.2V".

Neither company names the other, and nobody has tested this pairing.

  • Set to lithium, WFCO's manual for this converter says it reaches 14.6 VDC in bulk: "boosting the output voltage to 14.6 VDC and allowing the maximum current to flow as required by the loads." That is at or above the figure the pack asks for, where the same maker's WF-8900 tops out at 14.4 V. Bulk runs between one and four hours — the one-hour minimum is for cell balancing rather than charge — and absorption then holds 13.6 V. The lithium profile is selected by a switch on the unit, and an amber LI light shows it is in that mode.

  • This converter decides for itself: WFCO's manual says it will "evaluate the charging cycle of a battery, determine the type of battery being used, and then choose the appropriate charging program(profile)", recognising lead-acid, AGM and lithium. Once it has settled on lithium it charges in two stages and reaches 14.6 VDC in bulk, at or above the figure this pack asks for. The condition matters and is theirs, not ours: the 14.6 V depends on the converter detecting lithium.

Devices documented to run on this

The figures below line up. Neither manufacturer states that this pack runs this device — that is our reading of what each of them published separately, not a claim by either of them or a test by us. Even where every stated figure agrees, these can still decide it:

  • The device’s published draw is usually a peak, not the load it holds — the two numbers are not the same kind of quantity
  • A maker’s amp-hour minimum and their reserve-capacity minimum can give different answers about the same battery
  • Conditions attached to the chemistry, such as a speed limit for running on lithium
  • Whether the pack may be wired in series at all, where the device needs 24 or 36 volts
  • The charger, which both makers put conditions on and neither supplies
  • Case size, hold-down and terminal type — fitting the space is not being secured in it

Worth confirming with the device's manufacturer or a dealer before buying.

  • Redodo rate this pack at 100 A continuous — their datasheet reads "100A" — and Progressive Dynamics publish a max current at max load of 100 A for the PD1610. The two figures are EQUAL, so a pack running this inverter at its full 1000 W would be at its maker's stated limit with nothing spare. That is a different statement from a comfortable fit, and neither company has made either. Compared on continuous figures only: nothing here is about surge.

Devices whose figures this pack does not meet

Neither maker names the other. These devices publish a draw this pack’s own maker does not rate it to deliver continuously. That is a comparison of two documents and not a manufacturer’s refusal — check both against your own equipment before deciding anything.

Neither company names the other, and this is a comparison of two documents rather than anybody's refusal.

Figures compared — they do not meet

Neither maker names the other. What these chargers publish and what this pack publishes do not meet, and each row below says how. That is our comparison of two documents and not a manufacturer’s refusal — check both against your own equipment before deciding anything.

  • Redodo state this pack's charge voltage as 14.4 ± 0.2 V — their datasheet reads "Charge Voltage: 14.4V±0.2V". WFCO's own manual gives this converter a target output of 13.6 VDC in normal use, rising to 14.4 VDC only in Bulk Mode, which it leaves "until the current draw drops to approximately five Amps, or until the timer reaches four hours (whichever happens first)". So the converter's normal output is below what this pack is specified to charge at, and 14.4 ± 0.2 V is reached only during that Bulk phase. Neither company names the other, and neither has said anything about this pairing.
